Smokey Eye with a Bold Red Lip! | Ms. Nikki's Beauty Blog
Hey guys,
This has been my FOTW (Face of the Week). I am so in love with MAC Ruby Woo and MAC Currant lip liner that I have been wearing this look all week. Now, I went bold with it, doing a smokey eye and a red lip, but feel free to change it up to a nude lip! Both to me are very wearable!

Eyes:
Wet n' Wild ColorIcon eye liner in Dark Brown
Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper
Sleek Bad Girl I-Divine palette
Jordana eye liner in Blackest Black
CoverGirl TruBlend pressed powder in 6 Translucent Sable
Maybelline The Falsies mascara in 291 Very Black

Face:
MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NC50
MAC Studio Fix powder plus foundation in NW45
Loreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup in 470 Classic Tan
Urban Decay All Nighter makeup setting spray (optional)

Lips:
Carmex original lip balm
MAC Ruby Woo retro matte lipstick
MAC Currant lip liner
Alternative for a nude lip is: MAC Fresh Brew lipstick and MAC Chestnut lip liner or Maybelline ColorSensational lip color in Toffee Tango and NYX slim lip pencil in Brown or Cappuccino

But remember, you can switch anything up and use what you have!

Start off with a clean face and apply your moisturizer and primer. I used Loreal Paris Youth Code gel cleanser and Milk of Magnesia as my primer. I know, you are probably thinking, Milk of Magnesia on your face? Google Milk of Magnesia for oily skin and you will see why. :D Anyway, let it set for 15 minutes so it can sink into your skin. Now apply your lip balm. Use any lip balm that you would like! I used Carmex original lip balm. I am doing this step now because Ruby Woo is really drying to the lips so the key is to prep the lips with a lip balm so it can moisturize the lips and get them ready for the lipstick. It also helps to prevent peeling and all of that jazz. While that is going on, go ahead and start on your eyes. First, do your brows. I outlined and filled them in with Wet n' Wild's ColorIcon pencil in the color of Dark Brown. Next, apply your eye primer and base. I used Lime Crime's Eyeshadow Helper (a review is coming soon) and Maybelline's Eyestudio gel liner in Blackest Black. Apply the gel liner just to your crease. Take Sleek Bad Girl I-Divine palette and use the black matte color on the upper right corner. Apply it up to the crease, no further than that and it will look harsh. I applied it with the eyeshadow applicator that came with it. Next, take the CoverGirl TruBlend pressed powder in 6 Translucent Sable and apply it as your bridge color. Right above the black color that was applied to the brow bone. I did not use a highlight with this look. Next, take Jordana's eye pencil in Blackest Black and apply it to your water line and lash line. Now, apply mascara to your lashes. I used Maybelline The Falsies mascara in 291 Very Black. I only applied it to my upper lash line. I hardly ever fool around with applying mascara to my lower lashes lol. You can apply false lashes if you want! You are done with your eyes!

Now to the face. I took MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NC50 and applied it to my entire face including around my eyes to cover dark circles. I took only 2 drops of that stuff because it is very full coverage. A little goes a long way. After that, take Loreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup in 470 Classic Tan and highlighted under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose. Next, take MAC Studio Fix powder plus foundation in NW45 and set your makeup. Notice I did not apply any blush. I did not want any color on my cheeks, but feel free to use a peachy blush that compliments your skin tone. You are done with your face for now as there is an optional step to the face, but it is done after your lipstick application.

Last but not least is the lips. Remember we applied the lip balm earlier? Well now it is time to blot the excess moisture from the lips with a tissue or a paper towel. Your lips should be smooth to the touch and ready for Ruby Woo. Start off with lining your lips with MAC Currant lip liner. Dupe to this lip liner is NYX lip pencil in Deep Purple. I am still looking for a dupe to Ruby Woo. I will find it eventually lol. Now after you have lined your lips, take Ruby Woo and gently pat or rub it on from the tube. You can get a better application with a lip brush, but I hardly use those. Patting motion creates a stain or just enough color to the lips while rubbing it on straight from the tube creates a more bolder lip application. I rubbed it on for more intense pigmentation! For a more precise line around the lips, take some concealer with a concealer brush and gently line around the lip liner. The lip liner line will be more clean and precise. To tone this look down, go for a nude lip. Take MAC Fresh Brew lipstick and MAC Chestnut lip liner or you can go for their dupes and use NYX Brown or Cappuccino lip liner along with Maybelline ColorSensational lip color in Toffee Tango. Add Maybelline ColorSensational lip color in Sugared Honey for a more shimmery look. Now you are done with your lips!

Now remember I said we are not really done with our face, but you could have stopped at that point? The reason why I said that is because if you really want your makeup to last all day or all night, apply a makeup setting spray. I used Urban Decay All Nighter makeup setting spray and applied 4 sprays to the face to set it. Your makeup should last all day or night now! You are done with your look!

I have sporting this look day or night, it does not matter for me! This look is now my signature look or my everyday look. I can't get enough of it! I get a whole lot of compliments on this look. I hope you try it out and let me know how it goes!

Until my next post,
♥ and Peace!
Nikki
