Besides sounding super duper Bieberific this lip pencil was one of the first things that caught my eye after I saw the official pictures of the Nars Summer 2012 Collection. I love Mexican Rose the Velvet Lip Gloss Pencil from the Spring Collection so I was all about trying another lip pencil in light of my pro matte product phase. So when I opened Never Say Never I expected a lot.
I’ll cut to the chase here and say I love the shade but I needed to put balm under it (my fav is Mac Prep+Prime) and over it to get it to go the distance on me. I have a lot of lip (duh) and I am a freak about moisture so thats what I’ve been doing to keep this lasting for a good 5 hrs on me. Because the formula is dry the wear time is good I think but some layering underneath and on top of the product seems to seal it for me. This color behaves really well with drinks and meals after that layering also.
Without balm I get less spectacular results. I don’t think you need a fancy balm either, I used my EOS balm and that added a bit more shine and also some flavor and scent. Never Say Never has neither on its own.
If you happen to have Mexican Rose already you can also do what I like to call the (DRUMROLL PLEASE!) Never Say Mexican Rose…
The color in Mexican Rose overpowers Never Say Never but I love the finish you get by mixing them both. It’s not too glossy or too matte. Check both colors out on your next visit to the Nars counter!
